History
In May of 1626 the Lenape Indians sold the Island of Manhattes, currently known as Manhattan, to the Dutch West India Corporation for $24. Potentially the greatest real estate deal ever.
In the tradition of making historic real estate deals we formed The Manhattes Group LLC.
The Manhattes Group LLC was formed in 2000 by Alan Shmaruk and Jamison Weiner. At the time the firm consisted of the two partners, the office consisted of an 800 square foot studio office. Today The Manhattes Group LLC represents some of the largest property owners and developers as well as some of the largest Tenants in Manhattan.
The Manhattes Group LLC has completed over $200,000,000 worth of transaction since its inception. Manhattes is recognized as an industry leader in Investment sales, development site assemblages, retail and commercial leasing.
Executive Team
Jamison Weiner is the co-founder and Partner of The Manhattes Group LLC. Mr. Weiner began his career working for The Related Companies L.P. from 1994-1999. Mr. Weiner worked for two years with the retail division working on the development of big-box shopping centers throughout the Northeast. In early 1996 Mr. Weiner moved to the New York Development division where he spent the next three years working directly for Stephen Ross, the Chairman of The Related Companies L.P., on the identification and acquisition of development properties and assemblages in New York City. Mr. Weiner also headed up the leasing of retail space in the residential portfolio in New York City. In February of 2000, Mr. Weiner left The Related Companies L.P. and founded The Manhattes Group LLC. Mr. Weiner graduated from The University of Arizona with a Bachelor of Arts degree. While attending The University of Arizona Mr. Weiner majored in urban planning & regional development.
Alan Shmaruk is a co-founder, partner and General Counsel of The Manhattes Group LLC. Mr. Shmaruk is an attorney who from 1985-1994 was a member of the real estate and insolvency groups of two of the top law firms in the city, Anderson, Kill & Olick and Cadwalder, Wickersham & Taft. In 1994 Mr. Shmaruk founded the Law Offices of Alan Shmaruk a law firm specializing in real estate and commercial transactions. In February of 2000 Mr. Shmaruk joined the Manhattes Group LLC. In the course of his career, Mr. Shmaruk has represented numerous property owners and developers in real estate transactions including acquisitions, restructurings and commercial leasing. Mr. Shmaruk graduated Colgate University cum laude in 1982 with a Bachelor of Arts degree and received his Juris Doctor degree from Albany Law School at Union University in 1985 with honors.
